The High Voltage Supply for the Echelle Detector

This photo shows the High Voltage Supply (HV box) for the Echelle detector. (Click on the image to get a larger view.)

The HV box contains four serially connected high voltage modules. They feed the following detector components:

HV1: mesh in front of the detector
HV2: MCP1 and MCP2 and the corresponding inter-MCP voltages
HV3: MCP3
HV4: acceleration voltage MCP - anode

The high voltages may be switched on and off and may be partially also regulated by the Echelle on board processor:

There are two indipentant switches: one for HV1 and another one for HV2/3/4.
Voltages HV2 and HV3 may be varied independently by the on board processor.

Technical Data

HV1: Maximum voltage 2.0 kV, nominal voltage 0.5 kV
HV2: Maximum voltage 5.0 kV, nominal voltage 3.2 kV
HV3: Maximum voltage 1.5 kV, nominal voltage 0.6 - 0.8 kV (used for adjustment of total detector gain)
HV4: Maximum voltage 1.0 kV, nominal voltage 0.2 kV
