Abstract. Based on HST-STIS spectra of PG1159-035, a hot, variable white dwarf, we investigate the response of the stellar atmosphere to pulsations. The observations are compared to theoretical model atmospheres which allows to derive an amplitude for the variation of the effective temperature of about 1250 K. Additionally, we derive amplitudes for radial velocity variations with 4.5 km/s for the second strongest optical mode.
