Abstract. We demonstrate the importance of correctly considerating iron-group line blanketing for the analysis of high-resolution Far-UV spectra (e.g. from FUSE) of hot compact stars. An analysis of the subdwarf O star Feige 67 is presented, which is well suited to illustrate the diffculties and possible error sources related to the Fe and Ni line blanketing effect, because it is known for its overabundance of the elements (probably due to radiative levitation) and because high-resolution spectra are available and the stellar parameters are well known (Haas 1997).
By means of three examples we will show the problems for an accurate determination of iron and nickel abundances: The consideration of a broad wavelength range for a reliable determination of the stellar continuum the role of interstellar reddening and the normalization of the model to the observation.Key words: -
