Abstract. The power spectrum of Cyg X-1 can be well described by the superposition of broad Lorentzian components. We summarize the results on the behavior of these Lorentzians as determined from our RXTE monitoring campaign from 1998 until the end of 2001, focusing on the "failed state transitions" of this source.
