Abstract. We present preliminary results of simultaneous X-ray observations of the quasar 3C 273 using ESA XMM-Newton (EPIC) and NASA Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (PCA + HEXTE). Different models suggested by previous observations to describe the soft excess in the continuum spectrum are discussed. There is no significant detection of an Fe-line. We provide upper limits for a broad or narrow Fe-line.
