Abstract. Almost ten years ago, at the time when the Second Conference on Faint Blue Stars was held, the PG 1159 stars have just been established as a new spectroscopic class of hot hydrogen-deficient white dwarfs. Now, at the Third Conference, non-LTE model atmosphere analyses of most of these stars have become available. We summarize the results and discuss the relation of the PG 1159 objects to other hydrogen-deficient stars. A recently discovered new class of hot white dwarfs, which display signatures of a superhot wind, has attracted considerable attention. We present latest Hubble Space Telescope observations.
